Though born in Chicago, Lisa has lived most of her life in the small towns of South Dakota and Iowa. After graduating from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, with a bachelors degree in Social work, Lisa arranged for her social work internship with REST (Residence and Emergency Shelter) in Chicago's Uptown community and the Harold Washington Single Room Occupancies. She immediately began creating a community living opportunity for low income people through the ministry of her home Church, Uptown Baptist. Two years later she took an assignment with a residential children's on ChicagoÕs Near North side. Lisa also directed a banquet and residential discipleship program for senior citizens in Uptown BaptistÕs senior housing facilities. In 1992 Lisa joined the IUA staff as office manager and now serves as Assistant for Finance and International Development. She is lead singer in a Latin jazz-rock band.
